Poland 1-1 Greece
Substitute goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton was the hero for Poland in a dramatic European Championship opener in Warsaw in which both sides finished with 10 men.
Tyton came off the bench in the second half for the co-hosts after Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny had been sent off for bringing down Greek substitute Dimitris Salpigidis.
Greece threw away three points in the Euro 2012 opener after Giorgos Karagounis saw his penalty saved
The reserve goalkeeper promptly saved the resulting spot-kick from Greece captain Giorgos Karagounis to ensure the points were shared in a wonderfully entertaining match in Group A at the National Stadium.
Poland will be kicking themselves, however, after throwing it away having gone in at half-time with a one-goal lead and with Greece down to 10 men after defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos was sent off harshly for two innocuous yellow cards.
The Poles, who began the game with swaggering intent in front their home fans, had dominated the first half.
It was no surprise when Robert Lewandowski gave them the perfect start after 17 minutes, although the goal had as much to do with the poor positioning of Greek goalkeeper Kostas Chalkias as the sharpness of Lewandowski.
Chalkias found himself flapping his arms in no man's land to leave the Borussia Dortmund striker, who scored a hat-trick in the German cup final last month, to head home a swinging cross from Jakub Blaszczykowski. It was no more than the Poles deserved.
They were hungrier, quicker to the ball and seemingly desperate to prove that while they are the lowest-ranked team in the tournament they have a realistic chance of reaching the quarter finals at least.
In that 45 minutes the Greeks looked a shadow of the organised side who had gained a reputation for being tough to beat, having lost just one of 21 games under manager Fernando Santos.
In fact, the Poles would have been kicking themselves that they were not further ahead at half-time after Rafal Murawski, Maciej Rybus and Lewandowski all missed clear-cut chances.
Damien Perquis should also have scored when the ball fell to him in the penalty area but the Polish defender, in unfamiliar territory, drilled his shot wildly wide of the post.

How will England do at the euros?
Losing players like Gary Cahill Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry to injury havent helped in the slightest and all this stuff about Rio Ferdinand has had a similar affect.
Roy Hogson has taken many un- experianced players to poland and Ukraine and many have question'd his squad selection including not taking Kyle Walker or Rio ferdinand also Grant Holt had a certain place on the plane in many peoples eyes. Players such as Jordan Henderson and Stewert Downing have been poor this season for Liverpool so taking them ahead of Players in the same position who where on good form last season came as a huge suprise the stats done lie Downing has scored 0 goals and made 0 assists this season. International quality?
In terms of the squad thats out there it doesnt seem to be going to bad the camp have put a zero tolerance on anything about players outside the camp mainly aimed at stopping all tjis Rio Ferdinand buisness and making the camp even more together whitch it sounds like they are. Certinatly when u listen to the interviews of Manager Roy Hodgson and Captain Steven Gerrard
Performances in the friendlies against Norway and Belgium have been ok but you whould expect england whould have to be a bit more attacking to do well in the Euro's but if some of our young stars such as Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck can shine aswell we might just have a part to play in what promises to be a great few weeks of football COME ON ENGLAND!

season review Team by team
Arsenal
in august they where in a right old mess but ever since they brought in players like Arteta and Gerviniho they have been of Arsenal standard 3rd place is a good finish but they need to spend a bit of money if they want to challenge for the title next year
Aston Villa
The problem at villa has been simply no ambition they never really set them selves a target and thats why they finished 16th losing Bent in Feburaryo didnt help though
Blackburn. Rovers season has been full off protests but not many wins without Yakubus goals the club whouldve been down by December!
Bolton they probably met the hardest teams at the times you really dont want to meet them straight at the start of the season and at the start of 2012 mind you there last few games on paper looked good i expected them to survive, they whould have if it wasnt for their meltdown against West Brom
Chelsea by their standerds a very poor season Andre Villas Boas was fired for failing to acheive his targets but since roberto di matteo took over things have turned around two finals in one season is something to be proud off
Everton as usual they have come good in the second half of the season and signings Nikika Jelavic and Steven Peinaar have worked fantasticly there home form has been great with wins against Chelsea Newcastle and Manchester city included.
Fulham
as usual a very solid season but at the start it look like they might go down but then they rallyed from november onwards despite losing Bobby Zamora in January
Liverpool their cup runs have been superb but their league form has been the opposite poor they drew two many home games and lost at Anfield to teams they shoudnt do like Wigan and West brom but sacking Kenny Dalglish may prove costly next season
Manchester City
they started the season in World Class form and where playing like a team who where going to win the league with a 6-1 win against rivals manchester united included but then around christmas and new year they tailed off a bit and in april they where 8 points behind top of the table Manchester United but in 2 weeks the. Eight point gap was swallowed up with the returning Carlos Tevez involved they won the league after scoring two goals in stoppage time against Qpr i think if it wasnt for all this Balotelli and Tevez stuff City whould have easily won the league because i think these things distracted the players at times
Manchester united
A trophieless season for the reds but throwing a eight point gap away with four games left is unbeliveable for a team of their experiance but simply they havent been good enough and personally i dont think united did their usual when they play well second half of the season, to be honest they never really played brilliantly all season in my opinion
Norwich
They where mosts favourites to go down bottom but they defied the odds. Skipper Grant Holt has been ecxellent and boss Paul Lambert has been brilliant. adapting to the premier leGue isnt easy and Norwich have done that well not even bieng in the relegation battle is a good acheivment
Qpr
For the money they have spent surviving on the last day isnt brilliant. But myself i give Mark Hughes credit for the job he has done since taking over in January the run in looked very hard for his side but they won most of their home matches whitch made them favourites going into the last day
Swansea their brilliant passing game has worked and going to the liberity this season for opposition players hasnt been enjoyed by many even away from home they have won a few and Gilfi Sigurdson has been a great loanee. I also very highly rate Nathan Dyer his speed and ability to cross is their for all to see
Sunderland
Since Martin O neill arrived things have changed dramaticly a good Fa cup run and a mid table finish is what the mackems didnt think theyd see at all this season under mr Bruce
Stoke
With Europa League involvment many expected them to drop a few places but they never did another solid season for the potters
Spurs
Finishing fourth may not be worth a champions league spot so how mist spurs rue their mid season blip whitch saw them drop a place despite bieng lots of points clear to north london rivals arsenal.
Wigan
They started their season very poorly collecting just five points from auguest into November they steadied their ship after that a little bit but in the new year they had another bad run whitch saw them odds on to go down. But in feburary they looked like they might be about to pull off an escape when they beat Bolton 2-1 at the Reebok stadium but came crashing back down to earth with only taking one point from their next two games but then wigan did pull off a fantastic fightback with wins against Liverpool Arsenal Manchester United and Newcaslte all involved in a brilliant last few months for latics fans the introduction of Shaun Maloney helped the latics finish 15th
West brom
A solid mid table finish was perhaps what many didnt expect and the fa saw something good about it because they appointed albions boss Roy Hogson as the next england manager.
Wolves
A very poor season and they sure payed the price for sacking mick macarthy relegated in April isnt something to be proud of their last win was in feburary whitch says it all
